| SUSAN EDSALL: BUEN CAMINO I'm not a religious person, but I have for a long time fantasised about taking a month or so to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain, a network of pilgrimage routes that lead to the tomb of Saint James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Some of the routes are shorter, but the longest are quite a challenge. I was therefore immediately interested when I heard about writer-performer Susan Edsall's 'Buen Camino', a one woman show about the creator's own experiences of walking the Camino. I wanted to find out more - about Susan's reasons for completing the walk, why she made a show about it and her expectations of the Fringe - so I arranged a chat ahead of her performances in August. CLICK HERE to read this Caro Meets interview. 'Buen Camino' is on at Gilded Balloon at Appleton Tower from 30 Jul-24 Aug. Find the edfringe listing here. |

| Shows to see in the week ahead - including performances from people and companies we first discovered at the Edinburgh Festival. | |||
![]() EDFRINGE PREVIEWS>> Mary O'Connell | Pleasance Theatre | 24 Jun (pictured) We're heading ever closer to the start of the Edinburgh Fringe and that's very much reflected in some of the stuff you can see in London at the moment. If you want to get ahead of the game with some sneaky Edinburgh previews, there are lots to choose from. Including plenty at the Pleasance, where I've picked the very talented Mary O'Connell to recommend. Click here. Chloe Petts and Johnny Pelham | Southwark Playhouse Borough | 30 Jun Over at SPB they've got a short season of Fringe previews happening, and this is the first in the rather fabulous line-up. The nice thing here, also, is that you get two edfringe shows per date, so you'll really make an impact on that edfringe-must-see list if you start here. Head to the venue website here to find out more. Katie Tranter + David Hoskin | Pen Theatre | 27 Jun And look at that, another double bill of shows that are headed to the Scottish capital later this summer! You can definitely expect good things from this spiritual pairing - Tranter's show is 'The Great Divinator Touched By Spirits' and Hoskin's 'A Haunted House' - because they are both highly acclaimed performers. See this page here. |

![]() THEATRICAL TREATS>> On Demand | Tabard Theatre | 25 Jun-12 July (pictured) Right, enough comedy, time for some theatrical stuff. First up is a new play from Duncan Campbell focusing on Trevor, who is in his eighties and struggling with his memory. Two strangers turn up and reveal some dark family secrets - what has he done in the past to merit the treatment that is planned for him? More here. Summers | The Space | 26-28 Jun "A story of summer: where every moment leads back to the heat: the warming Earth, the burning relationships and the heated lives of those who live them". I'm intrigued by this, the story of a boy and a girl who take different paths - one works in a factory, while the other becomes an environmentalist. Details here. 05:59 | The Hope Theatre | 26-28 Jun A play by Max Raphael inspired by the true stories of gay men born in the post AIDS epidemic era that asks "what it means to be defined by the scars of your forefathers". Focusing on a Lower East Side encounter between Benny and John, it's on as part of new queer play festival Bokfest. Find out more about it here. |

![]() MORE GREAT STUFF>> Potty The Plant | Wilton's Music Hall | 24-28 Jun Anyone up for a very fun looking adult comedy musical? Yeah, I thought there might be plenty of you out there. It's set at Little Boo Boo's General Hospital, where a bunch of dysfunctional nurses must try to find out why children are missing. Expect dark and whimsical stuff, and a singing, tap dancing potted plant called Potty. Click here. The Establishment | Jacksons Lane | 24 Jun (pictured) Another festival date for you now as we make a return to the lovely London Clown Festival to see The Establishment, an act we have experienced and loved up at the old edfringe. And, of course, we're not the only ones to have enjoyed their work, the award winning duo have won lots of acclaim for their high end clowning. More info here. God, The Devil And Me | Drayton Arms Theatre | 24-28 Jun Finally, I am quite taken by the idea of this play, which is brought to you via a collective of young performers and creatives from Wiltshire. It's about average teen Gabe, who is very much not average in the sense that he's friends with both God and the Devil, which has to be pretty intense. Find out more about it here. |
